⑩知性の誕生 紀元前6世紀、知性の世界

ある王様がいます。東の方にも別の王様がいるらしいのですが、どちらが偉いのか、どちらが上なのか分かりません。昔は新聞もテレビもありませんから様子が分からない。ではどうするかというと、一般には使者を送ります。美人を連れていったり、宝貝を山ほど持って相手の王様にプレゼントして「どうだ、俺はこんなに偉いぞ」と見せつけたりするわけです。もらった方は倍返しです。「いや、俺の方がもっと偉いで」と。お互いにプレゼントのやりとりをして、「あっちの方が上だな、やっぱり家来になろう」とか判断するわけです。それを「威信財交易」と呼んでいます。

　中国の周という王朝は、この威信財交易ではぶっちぎって全勝していました。なぜかというと、商（殷）が滅んだときに、青銅器を作る技術を持つ職人を全員囲い込んだのです。ヒッタイト（紀元前17世紀ごろにインド・ヨーロッパ語族のヒッタイトが現在のトルコがあるアナトリア半島に築いた王国）が鉄器職人を囲い込んだのと一緒です。そうすると相手は誰も作れない青銅器を見て「負けた。これは家来になるしかない」となる。周はそうやって周囲を従えていきました。しかも、地方の君侯は漢字が読めないので漢字を刻んだ青銅器をさらにありがたい、貴重なものと思ったのでしょう。

　ところが紀元前771年、西周が滅亡すると、囲われていた金文職人（青銅器に文字を鋳込む職人）が逃げ出します。これもヒッタイトのときと全く同じで、地方の君侯が喜んで金文職人を雇いました。そして、金文職人に周の王様からもらった青銅器に何が書いてあるかを読んでもらうと、300年前の周の祖先のことが青銅器に書いてある。すごい。周皇は貴種だと思い込むわけです。漢字の魔力ですよね。勝手に敬うわけです。同じことが、漢字が流出した東アジア全体にも起こります。中国の方も「そうか、俺を偉いと思っているんだったら悪乗りしてやる。俺は偉いんだぞ！」と。これが中華思想の始まりです。中華とは、周の都の辺りをそう呼んでいたのです。

　当時の地中海は、フェニキア人（ポエニ人）が仕切っていました。ギリシャ人も海へ乗り出しましたが、フェニキア人が我が物顔で商売をやっている。そこでギリシャ人は「自分たちは何者かをきちんと定義しておかないと、フェニキア人にのみ込まれてしまう」と思ったのでしょう。「自分たちはヘラスの子孫である」とギリシャ神話を作っていきました。『イーリアス』や『オデュッセイア』は、ギリシャ人をフェニキア人と区別するためのアイデンティティーを確立したものなのです。

　その頃のインドでは、因果応報思想を持っていたアーリア人と、地元に住んでいたインダス文明をつくったドラヴィダ系の人々の輪廻（りんね）転生の思想が結び付いて、「ウパニシャッド」という哲学が生まれました。

　中国やギリシャやインドでは、紀元前500年前後に「知の大爆発」が起こります。ソクラテスが生まれ、孔子が生まれ、釈迦（しゃか）が生まれ、およそ人間が考えることの全てがこの時代に生まれたといわれています。カール・ヤスパースという哲学者は「枢軸の時代」という形容詞を付けて「紀元前500年に全世界で知が爆発したのは奇跡だ」と延べました。でも奇跡でも何でもありません。学問は社会に余裕がなかったら生まれないんです。

　紀元前500年前後は、ちょうど鉄器が全世界に波及した時代です。その時代に地球が暖かくなります。鬼に金棒でしょう。鉄がある。鍬（くわ）やスコップをつくれる。がんがん農地を開墾すれば米や麦がたくさん収穫できるので豊かになるわけです。人類史上初めての高度成長が始まって生活に余裕が出てきたので、「じゃあ、勉強したいやつには勉強させておこう、ご飯ぐらい食べさせてやるわ」となるわけですね。これが知の爆発の原因です。

The reason is that when the Shang (Yin) dynasty perished, all the craftsmen who had the skills to make bronze ware were hired. It is the same as the Hittites (a kingdom built by the Indo-European Hittites on the Anatolian Peninsula, where Turkey is located, around the 17th century BC) hired the iron craftsmen. Then, the other party saw the bronze ware that no one could make and said, "I lost. I have no choice but to be their subordinates." Zhou followed the surroundings in that way. Moreover, since the local princes cannot read Chinese characters, they probably thought that the bronze ware with the Chinese characters was even more appreciated and valued.

Here we can see that we, the Orient, are 700 years behind the Islamic world.

In the three age system, bronze ware age is next to the Stone Age…The next thing to appear in the Bronze Age is ironware.

However, in 771 BC, when the West Zhou dynasty was destroyed, the hired gold literary craftsman (a craftsman who casts letters into bronze ware) escapes. This was the same as in the Hittites, and the local prince was happy to hire a gold literary craftsman. Then, when they asked a gold literary craftsman to read what was written on the bronze ware given by the King of Zhou, the ancestors of Zhou 300 years ago were written on the bronze ware. It's amazing. They think Zhou is a noble species. It's the magical power of kanji(Chinese character), isn't it? They respect the King of Zhou. The same thing happens throughout East Asia, where Chinese characters have leaked. The Chinese also said, "Well, if they think I'm great, I'll take a bad ride. I'm great!" This is the beginning of Chinese thought. China used to call the area around the city of Zhou.

The Mediterranean Sea at that time was dominated by Phoenicians (Punics). The Greeks also embarked on the sea, but the Phoenicians are doing business acting as if they owned the place. The Greeks would have thought, "If we don't define who we are, we'll be swallowed by the Phoenicians." "We are descendants of Hellas," They created Greek mythology. "Elias" and "Odyssey" established an identity to distinguish the Greeks from the Phoenicians.

In India at that time, the philosophy of "Upanishads" was born by combining the Aryans who had the idea of ​​causal retribution and the idea of ​​reincarnation of the Dravidian people who created the Indus Valley Civilization who lived in the area.

In China, Greece, and India, a "big explosion of knowledge" will occur around 500 BC. It is said that Socrates was born, Confucius was born, Buddha was born, and almost everything that human beings think the way was born in this era. A philosopher named Karl Jaspers added the adjective "Axial Age" and extended that "it is a miracle that knowledge exploded all over the world in 500 BC." But it's not a miracle or anything. Academics cannot be born if society cannot afford it.

Around 500 BC is the time when ironware spread all over the world. The earth will be warm in that era. It will have the strength of Samson. There is iron. You can make hoes and shovels. If you clear the farmland, you can harvest a lot of rice and wheat, which makes it richer. The first high economic miracle in human history has begun, and we have more time to live, so it's like, "Then, let's let the person who wants to study, I'll feed them about the meal." This is the cause of the explosion of knowledge.
