中国では始皇帝の後、漢という国ができ、王莽（おうもう）という人が新という国をつくります。これが禅譲の始まりです。王莽は「儒教の秩序を世界に広めようとした現実離れしたひどい政権やったで」といわれています。例えば朝鮮半島に高句麗という国がありますよね。王莽は「地方の政権なのに高いという字を使うなんて生意気だから、下句麗にしてしまえ」などというわけです。

　でもよく考えてみたら、中国を真ん中にして位を決めて東アジアの秩序をつくろうとしたという評価もできないわけではないのです。ですから王莽政権というのは単に時代錯誤だけではなく、東アジアの冊封体制の始まりじゃないかという見方もあります。でもあまりに理想論的な改革を強行したので反乱が相次ぎ漢が復興します。

　同じ頃インドではクシャン朝という王朝が生まれ、カニシカ王の頃に仏像ができたといわれています。インドはインダス川とガンジス川の2つの焦点を持っているという話をしましたが、クシャン朝はインダス川のほとりにあるプルシャプラと、ガンジス川のほとりにあるマトゥラーの両方に首都を持っていました。

　昔はギリシャの彫刻の影響を受けてガンダーラ仏ができたというのが通説でした。しかし、よく調べてみると、インダス川のほとりのプルシャプラでは確かにギリシャの影響を受けて仏像が現れていますが、ほぼ同じ時期にマトゥラーでも仏像が現れています。これはおそらく先ほど話したヒンドゥー教のシヴァ神の像とか、ヴィシュヌ神の像の影響でできたのではないかといわれており、ギリシャの影響を過大視するのはちょっとおかしいのではないかという説が現在は中心になってきています。

　仏教では仏陀（ぶっだ）こと、ゴータマ・シッダールタ、つまりお釈迦様のありがたい法話を広める際、お釈迦様を車輪で表したり、仏足石のように足で表したりしていたのです。でもそれは分かりにくいので、次第に仏像ができていきます。人間って最初は「像をつくるのは恐れ多い」とみんなが考えますが、時代がたつと分かりやすさが勝って像をつくるようになるんですね。キリスト教も一緒です。マリアとかイエスの像がどんどんできていきました。

　イエスの教えはパウロがつくっていくのですが、やっぱり紙に書いておかないと消えてしまうということでイエスが死んでから半世紀後ぐらいに新約聖書が書かれるようになります。「福音書」ですね。マタイとか、ヨハネとか、マルコとか、ルカという福音書が書かれて、イエスの教えが固まるが紀元1世紀の終わり頃ですね。

Around the same time, a dynasty called the Kushan dynasty was born in India, and it is said that a Buddha statue was created around the time of King Kanishka. We talked about India having two focal points, the Indus and the Ganges, but the Kushans had capitals on both the Prushapura on the banks of the Indus and Mathura on the banks of the Ganges. ..

In the old days, it was a common belief that the Gandhara Buddha was created under the influence of Greek sculpture. However, upon closer examination, Buddha statues have certainly appeared in Prushapura on the banks of the Indus River under the influence of Greece, but at about the same time, Buddha statues have also appeared in Mathura. It is said that this was probably due to the influence of the Hindu statue of Lord Shiva or the statue of Vishnu, and it is a bit strange to overestimate the influence of Greece. Now it is becoming the center.

In Buddhism, when spreading the Buddha, Gautama Siddhartha, that is, the Buddha's thankful ritual, the Buddha was represented by wheels or by his feet like a Buddha Footstone. However, it is difficult to understand, so Buddha statues will gradually be created. At first, everyone thinks that human beings are afraid to make an image, but as time goes by, it becomes easier to understand and makes an image. Christianity is the same. The statues of Mary and Jesus Made more and more.

Paul will make the teachings of Jesus, but after all, it will disappear if you do not write it on paper, so the New Testament will be written about half a century after Jesus died. It's the "Gospel".
