　ヨーロッパでホーエンシュタウフェン朝のフェデリーコ2世という傑物が生まれたこの時代、広大なユーラシア大陸では東西から2つの太陽が昇りつつありました。西方ではホラズム・シャー朝のムハンマドという開明的な君主がセルジューク朝を滅ぼし、ほぼユーラシアの西半分を支配しました。東方ではチンギス・カンが即位していました。ウイグルの滅亡から約350年ぶりにモンゴル高原が統一されたのです。

　両雄相並ばずといいますが、東からも西からも太陽が昇り始めたら、これはもうけんかをして決着をつけるしかないですよね。そこでこの2つの太陽は衝突するのですが、あっけなくモンゴルが大勝します。ホラズム・シャー朝が引いたのです。大相撲に例えると、ぶつかったときにぱっと引けば、相手はばたっと倒れます。ところが、タイミングをちょっと誤れば、引いた瞬間にずずっと押し込まれて、そのまま土俵を割ります。だから、ホラズム・シャー朝があっけなく滅んだのは、大相撲の引くタイミングを誤ったと考えるのが一番分かりやすい。引くタイミングを誤ったので、そのままずずっと押し込まれて、モンゴルの天下になりました。

　モンゴルがユーラシアを支配しているとき、インドでは1206年にアイバクというマムルークがゴール朝から自立してマムルーク朝を建て、上手にモンゴルの攻撃をかわしました。ここで面白いのは、早くも1236年にラズィーヤという女性の君主が出ていることです。

　遊牧民の間では男性でも女性でも血筋がしっかりしていて有能ならば、君主になれるということです。実はイスラム世界では、当時のヨーロッパに比べてはるかに女性の地位が高く、財産の相続権も認められていました。ですからインドのような男尊女卑の厳しい世界でも、女性がスルタンになることができたのです。

　チンギス・カンが死んだ後、クリルタイ（大集会）を経て3男のウゲデイが即位するのですが、ウゲデイは1236年にはるか西方の征服を目指してバトゥを大将にして軍団をヨーロッパに送りだします。バトゥはチンギス・カンの長男ジョチの子どもです。

　この大西征軍はキエフを落とし、ハンガリーの大草原に達するわけですが、ウゲデイが何を考えたかというと、広い世界を次の世代に見せようと考えたわけです。つまりチンギス・カンの孫たちの世代です。大西征軍には次男チャガタイ、ウゲデイ、4男トルイのこどもたちが加わっていました。

　この中でめちゃくちゃ優秀だったのがモンケです。モンケはチンギス・カンの4男のトルイと、ソルコクタニ・ベキというキリスト教徒のお母さんの間に生まれた4人の男子の長男です。モンケは西征の途中にユークリッドの『幾何学原論』を趣味で読んでいたというような賢い人で、広いユーラシアを旅している中で時差の存在に気がつきます。

　また、モンケの兄弟（クビライ、フレグ、アリクブケ）は全員が超優秀でした。モンゴルの王族とキリスト教徒のお母さんですから、ダイバーシティーがありますよね。

　ウゲデイが死んだとき、大西征軍はハンガリーから葬儀に参加するために帰途につきます。ただし、ジョチはウゲデイの子ども、グユクと大げんかをしていたので、モンゴルに帰っても自分が大カアンに選ばれる可能性はないと考え、ヴォルガ川のほとりに残って、ジョチ・ウルスをつくります。昔は日本ではキプチャク・ハン国と呼ばれていましたね。ジョチの国です。

　モンゴルではクリルタイを経てグユクが即位しますが、バトゥがモンゴルに帰ってこないので、「これは反乱のつもりじゃないか」と考え、バトゥを滅ぼそうと西に出発します。しかし、途中でグユクは死んでしまいます。おそらくバトゥが暗殺したのでしょう。

　そうなると、今度はバトゥとモンケは仲がよかったものですから、バトゥの大軍団に守られて、モンケが皇帝になるのです。ここでウゲデイ、グユクと続いてきたウゲデイ・ウルスは粛正されてほぼ消滅してしまいます。

　モンケは非常に優秀ですから、二男のクビライには「中国をやっつけてこい」と指示して、三男のフレグには「もう1回、西へ行くんだ」と指令を出します。ただ、そのときフレグには「ペルシャの地には優れた天文学者や科学者が山ほどいると聞いた。連れて帰ってこい」と命じます。時差に気がついたモンケはより優れた暦を作ろうとしたのです。

　クビライは雲南から南宋を攻めるのですが、極めて慎重な性格でしたから果敢な性格のモンケから見たら、クビライがさぼっているように見えます。それで「南宋なんかイチコロやないか、もう待っておられへん」と、クビライをクビにして自分が最前線に出ていったところ、病原菌に冒されて死んでしまいます。

　フレグの大軍団は既にバグダードを落としてシリアに入り、エジプトまであと一歩というところだったのですが、モンケが死んだことを知って軍を返します。たぶんフレグはお兄さんのクビライが失脚したことを知っていましたから、帰ったら、自分が後を継げると思ったのかもしれません。

　ところが、クビライはさっさと自分の仲間だけを集めて、開平でクリルタイを開き中国でカアンになってしまったので、フレグは途中で帰るのをあきらめて、ペルシャで自立します。これがフレグ・ウルス（1258年～） です。昔はイル・ハン国といわれていました。

　フレグは、マラーガに大天文台をつくります。モンケの命令を覚えていたんですね。マラーガというのはフレグ・ウルスの最初の首都です。このマラーガの天文台で集めたデータがイル・ハン天文表になって、これが中国に流れて、郭守敬やジャマール・ウッディーンが作った授時暦という暦になります。

　これはヨーロッパのグレゴリオ暦よりも300年以上早い優れた暦ですが、この暦を江戸時代に日本に持ってきて、北京と江戸の時差を調整して、渋川春海が日本の暦を作りました。この話は映画にもなりましたよね。だから、江戸時代に渋川春海が暦を作ったのは、実はモンケの発想がきっかけになっているのです。そう考えると、歴史って本当に面白いですね。

　フレグはシリアから戻ってペルシャの地にフレグ・ウルスをつくった後、しばらくして死んでしまいます。しかしフレグは帰るとき、占拠したシリアのダマスカスに守りの部隊を置いて、そこの大将に「帰ったらまた援軍を送るから、ちゃんとシリアを守って勝手によそに攻めていったらあかんで」と言い残しました。

　しかし、シリアに残ったモンゴルの大将は、命令を守りませんでした。「命令違反をしても誰もしかるやつはいない。シリアを守っているだけでは退屈だ。エジプトなんか大したことはない、自分たちの軍団だけで簡単に攻め落としてやるわ」と考えて南下し始めます。

　そのときにエジプトにいたのが、マムルーク朝のバイバルスという将軍です。彼はキプチャク人のマムルークでした。つまりトルコ人です。フレグの残存部隊もキプチャク人を含めてトルコ人が中心ですから、「アイン・ジャールートの戦い」という有名な戦いは、実はトルコ人同士が戦ったわけです。

　同じ騎馬遊牧民が戦ったら、土地の地理を知り尽くしているバイバルスが勝つに決まっていますよね。ここでモンゴルは止められて、バイバルスは大英雄になります。史上無敵といわれたモンゴル軍を破った者はほかにはいません。ですからバイバルスは、サラディンに次ぐアラブの英雄になって、マムルーク朝を強国にしました

In Mongolia, Guyuk will take the throne via Kurultai, but Batu will not return to Mongolia, so Guyuk thinks, "this is a rebellion," and departs west to destroy Batu. However, Guyuk dies on the way. Perhaps Batu assassinated.

In that case, Batu and Monke were on good terms this time, so Monke became the emperor, protected by the large army of Batu. Here, Ugedei and Guyuk, followed by Ugedei Urs, have been purged and almost disappeared.

Möngke is so good that he tells his second son, Kublai, to "defeat China" and his third son, Fleg, to "go west again." However, at that time, he ordered Fleg, "I heard that there are a lot of excellent astronomers and scientists in the land of Persia. Bring me back." Noticed the time difference, Monke tried to create a better calendar.

Kublai attacks the Southern Song Dynasty from Yunnan, but he has a very cautious personality, so from the perspective of Monke, who has a bold personality, Kublai seems to be slacking off. So, when Monke went to the front line with Kublai Khan, saying, "I'm not waiting for something like Southern Song Dynasty," he was struck by a pathogen and died.

Freg's army had already dropped Baghdad into Syria and was just one step away from Egypt, but returned his army when he learned that Monke had died. Perhaps Hulagu khan knew that his brother Kublai had fallen, so when he returned, he might have thought he could succeed him.

However, Kublai quickly gathered only his own friends, opened Kurultai in Kaihei and became Khan in China, so Fleg gave up on the way home and became independent in Persia. This is Hulagu Khan (1258-). It used to be called Il Khanate.

Hulagu will build a large observatory in Maragheh. He remembered Monke's orders. Maragheh is the first capital of Hulagu Khan. The data collected at this Maragheh observatory becomes the Ilkhanate observatory, which flows to China and becomes the calendar called the chronological calendar created by Guo Shoujing and Jamal Woodin.

This is an excellent calendar that is more than 300 years earlier than the European Gregorio calendar, but Shibukawa Shunkai created the Japanese calendar by bringing this calendar to Japan during the Edo period and adjusting the time difference between Beijing and Edo. .. This story has also become a movie. Therefore, the reason why Shibukawa Shunkai created the calendar in the Edo period was actually the idea of ​​Monke. With that in mind, history is really interesting.

After Hulagu returns from Syria and creates Hulagu Khan in Persia, he dies shortly afterwards. At that time, there was a general named Baibars of the Mamluk dynasty in Egypt. He was a Kipchak Mamluk. He is Turkish in other words. Since the remaining troops of Hulagu are mainly Turkish, including Kipchaks, the famous battle called "Battle of Ain Jalut" was actually a battle between Turks.

If the same horse nomads fought, Baibars, who knows the geography of the land, would win. Here Mongolia is stopped and Baibars becomes a great hero. No one has defeated the Mongolian army, which is said to be invincible in history. So Baibars became the second Arab hero after Saladin and made the Mamluk dynasty a power.
